How to choose

Food and drink. The hawker van and mobile cafe are both set up for selling from the vehicle. The mobile cafe costs about RM11,000 more than the hawker van, so decide whether you need a cafe-style fit-out or a simpler stall layout. Check licensing requirements with your local authority (PBT) before you commit.

Cold chain. A chiller keeps goods cool; a freezer holds them frozen. The price difference between the two is only about RM1,150 to RM1,280, so choose by what you carry, not by budget. If you carry both, tell us before you order.

Dry goods. The box van protects cargo from rain and theft at around RM4,500 more than a steel body. The luton adds height over the cab for bulky, light items such as packaging or furniture.

Trades and general use. A steel or wooden body is the lowest-cost route. Steel is the more durable option for heavy daily use.

Things to ask before ordering

  1. What will the body weigh? Ask for the body weight and the vehicle's permitted load so you know how much cargo you can legally carry. Daihatsu Malaysia quotes a maximum Pick-Up load of 800 kg.
  2. How long will it take? The Pick-Up is made to order, and manufacturing starts after booking. Ask for the latest completion timeline.
  3. Is the body registered correctly? We handle all registration and inspection for you.
  4. What does your insurance cover? Insurance is based on the sum insured, which differs by body. Our quoted figures are indicative.
